The first program of its kind in the United States, the Standards for Excellence Institute is a national initiative to promote the highest standards of ethics and accountability in nonprofit governance, management and operations.
The Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector provide guidelines for how nonprofit organizations should act to be ethical and accountable in their program operations, governance, human resources, financial management and fundraising. The Standards cover eight areas of nonprofit governance and operations:
The CDP is the licensed replication partner for this program in West Virginia and offers training programs through the Standards Clinic Series throughout the state. In addition, Introductory sessions are available to organizations to introduce them to the Standards and highlight the benefits of participating in the full training program. Clinic series consist of full day workshops held in 3 sessions over a period of approximately 6 weeks and facilitated by consultants who have been trained in the Standards for Excellence model.
